Charter As of 2021 literacy rate in Afghanistan is about 37%, that mean nearly 26 million Afghans out of 42 millions could not read or write. Due to new political changes, nearly two million girls have been prevented from attending secondary school, about 3 millions families internally displaced and another million families left recently adding to the millions of Afghans refugees living around the world. In some countries these refugees having little or no access to school. Liwal Digital School is providing a system for these tens of millions to self-learn and get formal recognition for their efforts. According to a survey in Khyber Pashtunkhwa 4.7 millions children aged 5-16 are not attending schools, 2.9 millions are girls and 1 million of them are living in tribal areas, majority of them could be Afghans. In short, 70% of Afghans cannot go to school due to lack of school, teachers and books or poverty, social, political restrictions and other problems. In addition to the above limiting formal education to in person presence only and not utilizing alternative ways such as distance schools, home schools, open schools, virtual schools and dozens of other world accepted norms for schooling further complicate the problem. Liwal Digital School with the help of technology and modern ways, provide a schooling facility to millions of Afghans in and outside of Afghanistan to learn at any age, anywhere and in anyway, get official schooling certificate and progress. Vision With the help of technologies provision of online, offline, and blended free, affordable and self-learning K-12 education at any age, anytime, anywhere. Mission To deliver K-12 free and affordable education based on Afghanistan curriculum and Liwal Self-learing e-curriculum for literacy using new technologies such as websites, tablets, computers, smart devices and digital applications to provide alternative and self-learning online, offline and blended internationally accepted and accredited education. Curriculum Liwal Digital School is using Afghanistan's Ministry of Education curriculum and specialized Liwal Self-learning E-curriculum for literacy in Pashto and Dari language online, offline and in blended learning techniques. Work is in progress to include an international curriculum for students who live abroad and want to enroll in Liwal Digital School. 1- Liwal Self-learning E-curriculum Fresh learner from kindergarten to third grade Liwal Self-learing E-courriculum helps illiterates to lean read and write easly and fast. Liwal e-curriculum is developed based on international standards by highly experienced teachers, educationists, technology and multimedia experts, it is tested in homes, priviate schools and public schools in Afghanistan. Also for fresh learner “Liwal School Knowledge Base” self-learning encyclopedia is developed that contains FAQs, words, signs, punctuation, equations, spelling, descriptions, letter forms, usage in sentences, and other elements of Liwal Digital School, the Ministry of Education and other curricula used in school instructions. The encyclopedia can read words, using syllables letters, synonyms, antonyms and grammar using sounds and videos. 2- Ministry of Education, Afghanistan Curriculum From 1-12 grade, Ministry of education's curriculum all subjects are arranged lesson wise and accessible online in school website through mobile, computers and other smart devices, special contents and applications are provided for offline learning without internet. Medium of Instructions Students having any difficulties going to school or can not learn, they can join Liwal Digital School and study at their homes at their own leisure and pace. School provides innovative multimedia self-learning materials which are created using different technologies. Now old, young, male or female can officially start schooling at home or anywhere at their own pace. We are working with government and accridation agencies for acceptablility the students studities locally and internationally to get admission in other schools. Following the success of Liwal Digital School, Liwal Digital University is in pipeline, which will enable students to get higher education and skills which will prepare them for business and job markets. For learning on websites, computers and smart devices special contents and applications are developed including lesson wise digital textbook copies, teaching video, supportive videos, exercise, homework, recommendations, short quizzes, end of lesson test and final subject exam. It also have instructions for guardians and teachers. During studies, students can seek help using phone, emails, messaging and chat applications. Those who do not have access to the internet can use the Liwal School Knowledge Base a self-learning encyclopedia. For those students who would like to have an online teacher, school is working to arrange online study groups with dedicated teachers. In totality, Liwal Digital School gives the role of teachers to technology or through technology make the teachers accessible. Liwal School provides education to students from K-12 at any age, anytime and anywhere using online, offline and blended learning methods described below: Student wishing to join Liwal Digital School must enroll in relevant class and thereafter can start their education through the following ways. Except for kindergarten and first grade, admission into all other grades needs to go through an entry examination and or official transfer from other partner schools. Online School Through the school website lds.liwal.com, students can enroll online and take lessons worldwide through their choice of device such as computer, smartphone, smart television or any other device connected to the internet and having a web browser app or Liwal School Specialized applications. Those offline should use following offline school option. Offline School For offline school without the use of internet, a smart phone, tablet or computer is needed. Liwal Digital School learning content and special applications for offline are provided in a memory card or copied to students device from schools main office, partner schools, nearest distributor or school ambassadors, they will help enroll students in the school and setup the learning contents in applications. Blended School Students who cannot learn online and cannot find learning support at home from relative or nearby literate person, during specific times, can benefit from in person studies or online classes. In addition, students due to no electricity, no connectivty and no learning device or other issue, can enroll in school, find the books for studying and find someone to teach them the class subjects and participate in exams. These student can find volunteers to teach them through “Become a volunteer or Partner” part of school website. Additionally, interested individuals can become a volunteer or partner through the same menu. Admission Procedure For admission or enrollment, students can follow procedures at school website lds.liwal.com and admission menu. Click on the desired class’s enroll button and start the enrollment procedure. Test and Certification Liwal Digital School's fundamental aim is that self-learning of Afghans is officially certified and accepted locally and international. Therefore, the exams are taken in a very strict manner, certificates are issued only to students who have passed the exams through the following ways. The school will uses following or any authentic method and procedures to measure student performance accurately. Below are some of the ways to test the students capabilities: Using Proctored Service for Test Student will use Liwal Digital School proctoring platforms and service to give exams under direct surveillance of proctor by turning their cameras on during exams. This testing service will be booked prior to the exam and the student has to login at the specific time with credentials remotely or in person using computer assisted testing. Exam in dedicated testing centers Via phone or school website students will register for nearest didicated test center for the exam. Students are required that tests take place in an appointed test center under strict observation to be certified and enrolled in the next grade. Test under Group Examination committee Liwal Digital School will make a group examination committee in every province and around the world in every country from the schools representative plus representatives and officials of relevant educational authorities, ambassadors, sponsors, friends, student advocates and parents. Under the direct supervision of a committee in person tests will be conducted. Based on requests and requirement, face-to-face and group tests will be conducted two or three times in a year for one or more classes as necessary. For group exams, students will use the school website to register. Also on completing class subjects school applications automatically register students for test. For group test school administration will sends the examination papers, or test papers will be prepared by the local committee. At the end of the test, all the papers are collected, sealed and sent to Liwal School centers for grading. Student pass from any of the above methods of examination successfully, certificates will be issued by Liwal Digital School and the student can enroll in the next grade. Certificates Our school system and curriculum are based on national and international standards, fully compatible with national curricula. Here students learn what is taught in a private, national or international school, only our method is new. Instead of going to school, lessons with the help of technology are attended at home in one’s free time and at minimum cost or free. We are working with international schools and organizations to for accreditation that our student's education are accepted in Afghanistan and around the world.
